James Beauchamp “Champ” Clark was a prominent Democratic politician from Missouri. Clark served in the U.S. House of Representatives for twenty-six years. Charles Henry Hart was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1847, to Julia Leavey and Samuel Hart. He practiced law for a time, but then decided to devote himself to his interest in American art.
